Meta-xylene is an organic compound with a molecular formula of C8H10 and a molecular weight of 106. It is a colorless and transparent liquid with an odor similar to toluene. Chemical nature
1. It is oxidized to isophthalic acid by chromic acid. The m-xylene reacts with fuming nitric acid to produce dinitrodimethylbenzene. Sulfonation reaction with sulfuric acid; Alkylation reaction can occur under the catalysis of aluminum trichloride.
